  1. 1. Curriculum works if it is being implemented by the teachers and the school administrator as a whole outside as well as inside the class appropriately, successfully and efficiently to its maximum degree. If it is responsive to what the society need. If it is up to date, they can produce graduates with high degree of learning in both theoretical/academic, actual and practical manner. Students are highly employable. Curriculum also works if it is attainable and implementable with regards to the mission/visions are also met. If the teachers are able to implement it without much difficulty, while on the part of the students, the curriculum is appropriate with their needs and skills. If it can be finished or implemented on time and within their budget.

    2. Yes there is a need to evaluated curriculum when evaluating instruction because instruction is part of the curriculum and it should always be in line with each other, otherwise evaluation of instruction will be a failure.

    3. Curriculum Evaluation is omitted or carried out ineffectively probably because, evaluators assigned are really not actively or actually taking part into the actual implementation of the curriculum. Another reason maybe, they do not have an eye for detail or do not consider the need of the society or the suggestion from other people who will be affected directly by the curriculum. Another possible reason can be politics, corruption and influence that makes evaluation ineffective because it lacks objectivity and reality check.

  2. 1. I think I can say that a curriculum works if the objectives and goals set beforehand was carried out successfully by the people who are in charge of implementing the details of the curriculum designed. Through evaluation, one can assess the strengths of the curriculum which is needed to retained and be carried out in the next school year. On the other hand, the weaknesses of the curriculum evaluated will be pointed out in order to develop further re-alignment and improvement.
    2. Yes, I suppose. Because for me, curriculum and instruction must go hand in hand. Instruction that is not evaluated is a curriculum not designed. Curriculum for me is like a blueprint of a house to be built by the architects and engineers. Without this, it is impossible to come up with a house that is well-structured and well-built. Going back in education, instructors without the knowledge of the curriculum plan will certainly deliver learning unmatched to what is designed in the curriculum. That is why evaluating instruction is a must.
    3. This is the usual case because the process of evaluating a curriculum is time consuming. You cannot evaluate a curriculum unless the instructions are already implicated. Often times, the curriculum designers and the instructors do not agree with each other because both parties have different opinions to stress out during the evaluation.
    4. Yes. If I am not mistaken, Hawthorne effect improves some aspects in the behavior of the people involved in curriculum evaluation like teachers. I assume that in the process of curriculum evaluation there is part wherein the designers would have to motivate the educators to be at their best when delivering the message of the curriculum especially when there’s a need for a change in the curriculum and the results on the next evaluation must be very satisfactory.

  3. 1. the curriculum work if the teacher will be involve in making the curriculum, if the proposed objective of the curriculum is achieve. and if all the teacher can implement it to their student.

2.yes its still needed so that the curriculum be tested and it will not have a problem.

3.maybe because the teacher know that it is not applicable for their students and they don't know how to teach the subject matter.

  4. 1. How do you know if a curriculum works?

Through Curriculum Evaluation, it plays important role in curriculum because this process helps the school administrator or curriculum developer to acquire data for examining the worth of an educational program, educational objective, procedure, instructional materials etc. It also help to create an alternative approaches designed to achieve specific objectives. We have several approaches for curriculum evaluation but the process will start in examining the curriculum goals/objectives although each approach is unique. What is important in curriculum evaluation is to gather sufficient data to judge the value and the efficiency/effectiveness of the curriculum by examining the each parts of the curriculum especially the curriculum objective wherein they will study number parameters of the objective have achieve and after that everything will follow.

    2. If you evaluate instruction, is there a need to evaluate the curriculum?

Yes. I believe this one of the problem in curriculum evaluation. They tend to forget the nature of the curriculum. We learned that the curriculum is dynamic. Curriculum approach reflects the holistic position. This is only mean that we should not ignore that other parts of the curriculum wherein there are a lot of things that we should take for consideration. I don’t think the success of the curriculum does not entirely determine on how good the instruction created. We learned that each parts of the curriculum has vital role. I think that each part can influence each other or at least it supports each other. Therefore that data will gather from the result of evaluation in instruction is insufficient.

  5. 3. Why is it that curriculum evaluation is often omitted or carried out ineffectively?

Just like what I have mention in item number two. They tend to forget the nature of the curriculum. The traditional approach of the school contributes the problem. It goes something like this, how you can evaluate the program if you don’t know how it works. The developer must have deep understanding of the curriculum to create a excellent evaluation program. Unfortunately some school has no initiative to address this problem because of the some personal selfish reason. Some of them think that their work will end after they create the curriculum. Evaluating the program takes time and money. For those schools who aim for a profit, there will be no doubt that their curriculum might fail because they don’t give the importance of curriculum evaluation. Another thing is depends on the how the school define success. The school might follow some model that they think that the whole evaluation program is sufficient to determine the if the curriculum works which other might disagree and propose other evaluation model.

    4. Does the Hawthorned Effect enter into curriculum evaluation? How?

Yes, the effect is clearly showed in teacher’s behavior. Generally the concept draw from Hawthorne Experiment that is when you pay attention to someone, their performance will improve. In my opinion this could be source of problem in curriculum evaluation for example during school accreditation where the curriculum was evaluated. You will notice that the performance of the teacher was significantly increased. This is where that they maximize all of the resources available for their student as if they do this in regular basis. You will notice that their teaching strategy is change not because of they have to do it for their student but it because someone will sit-in in his/her class to observe his/her performance. Sometimes the students wish to makes the accreditation a regular basis because during accreditation they learn more compare a day without accreditation. This is not only applicable to teacher performance but also in instructional material wherein the school will buy new instructional material. Again all of this happens during evaluation period. I would like to add more about his phenomenon, In my perspective, this curriculum evaluation could create what we called Pygmalion effect. In some model of evaluation wherein the one of the end process of evaluation is the feedback. In here where the recommendation is delivered, the school can modify it into a set of expectation that they can pass through their employees (school administration, faculty, board member etc.) This set of expectation is their key motivation to improve their performance. If they can implement it properly the moral and the productivity of the teacher and the other member of the school body will increase significantly.

  6. 1.A curriculum works if the objectives were accomplished. The role of the teacher and the curriculum developer is to determine if the desired outcomes were achieved.

2.Yes. Because upon evaluating and altering the instruction, there are other parts or details in the curriculum that would also need an evaluation or adjustments.

3..I think the reason why most curriculum evaluation is omitted was because curriculum developers are too confident that their curriculum is foolproof, since most of the time they were not the ones who do the implementation, but the teachers.

    4. Yes. More often than not, teachers who had to implement the curriculum were not included in the planning stage. The problem with this is that some teachers wouldn't follow the curriculum because of many possible reasons. The end result is that some of the learning outcomes were not attained. If the curriculum is evaluated, hawthorne effect will be significant because it means that teachers will be given importance like giving them proper incitation, including them in the planning of the curriculum, etc. This in turn, I think will greatly benefit the students.

  7. 1. Curriculum works if the set goals and objectives we’re met.
    2. Yes, evaluating the curriculum will help us know whether our objectives are attainable or not.

3.I guess because it needs time which means more works, more money to shell out.

    4. Hawthorn Effect is a term referring to the tendency of some people to work harder and perform better when they are participants in an experiment. Individuals may change their behavior due to the attention they are receiving from researchers rather than because of any manipulation of independent variables.

Hawthorn Effect enters into curriculum evaluation by letting the participants be a part of the evaluation. For example, the teachers, and the students.
Include those people who are involved. Their skills, knowledge and their level.
